Hi Mark-
It's so good to hear from you! I hope you had a jolly Thanksgiving.
I have a confession to make: I actually have a blogger blog. The thing is, I haven't written anything in it yet. But now that my secret's out I suppose I'll just have to. And since you're the first person to know about it, it is now your mission to kick my butt until I do, figuratively speaking of course.
I can't wait to be back in California! I've been dreaming about Pt. Reyes, cows, fresh produce... and I'm feeling a little claustrophobic over here. It's not just the reality of the impossibly tall buildings but this idea in my head that everything is so close together. When I look across the water to the Statue of Liberty I'm looking at New Jersey. Riding the train along the Hudson on my right is Connecticut and on my left is New Jersey. On a seven hour road trip from NYC to Maine you pass through three entire states. A seven hour road trip in California is from SF to LA. So while physically I'm probably not any more restrained than I was in say, Berkeley, I feel as though I am. Plus, I'm getting the itch again. That "get a move-on" itch.
I just read an article in Time about couples who are trading in their 400 sq ft homes for 37 sq ft RVs. It's not just retirees either. With wi-fi and cell phones many jobs can be done from any location. There is a whole sub-culture of these nomadic wanderers. What a way to see the country! Though I'd rather not think about what it costs to fill an RV tank.
While writing this I had a revelation. Since I appear to be inept at beginning a blog but am able to ramble on to no end in emails...this will be my first post! There, wasn't that easy?
That's all for now, I'll be seeing you soon!
Over and out, Kate
